As an Austin based company, we love playing host to techies from all over the world for the SXSW interactive conference and with only a month to go, we’d love to share our top picks of startups and events we are dying to check out.
SXSW Interactive is a huge launch pad for the tech world, just seven years ago Twitter launched at the fest and completely changed the face of social media. Every year there are new and exciting tech companies that make a pit stop in Austin to launch and we want you to be the first to hear what we are excited for. Here are our 5 top events to help you sort through the commotion!
1) Tunespeak Launch Party: 3/11 9PM-1AM @ Haddington’s
Tunespeak is the next innovation for the music industry. It is a music social media network that is able to track if a user has posted the music on Facebook and Twitter. If that person gets at least 3 people to click on the link and buy the music, the fan makes 1/3 of the profits. This new music social media platform, if successful, will change the way music marketing works–putting marketing back in the hands of the fans.
2) Peer to Peer: Non-Profit Social Media Managers: 3/10 3:30PM-6PM @ AT&T Conference Center Suite C
We love our non-profits and here in Austin, we certainly have a lot. This event is hosted by three social media for non-profit experts and will train you in all you need to know about engaging your audience and promoting your non-profit through social media. This event is great for those of you that have non-profits as clients as well.
3) Tina Roth Eisenberg Keynote Speech: 3/10 2PM-3PM @ Austin Convention Center, Exhibit Hall 5
Ms. Roth Eisenberg runs one of the top design blogs, swiss-miss.com, out of Brooklyn, NY. With over 1.3 million unique visitors per month this will be a keynote speaker not to be missed. She will have great insight on how to build readership and stand out in the blogging world. Though she has her hand in the blog world, that is not her only venture. She also invented a mobile ap called TeuxDeux so there will be a lot to learn from her speech.
4) Mix at Six: 3/9 6PM-8PM @ Haven
This event is presented by IBM and is one of the best networking opportunities of the weekend. A great way to meet other people in your field, and even potential clients. This is the go to mixer of the week.
5) Air BnB’s Brian Chesky Talks With Fortune 3/10 11AM-12PM @ Hilton Austin Downtown Salon ABC
Air BnB has been a huge start up in the past few years and it will be great to hear from the founder, Brian Chesky. This is a great event if you want to learn about digital marketing technique for a web start up. Chesky will also discuss how he rises above competitors to stay at the top of the travel site game.
There are hundreds of events to attend during the Interactive portion of the festival and we will be sure to keep you up to date on the goings on. For more info visit www.sxsw.com/interactive.
